Fearsome Triathlon Update

Here are some last minute bits of information to get you through the Fearsome Tri this coming Saturday.

1. Event order:
Bike-1.5-2.0 hours-hilly
Run 1 hour-flat (6 miles)
Bike 1.5-2.0 hours-hilly
Swim-30-45 minutes (2000 yards and 20 push-ups)
2. You can choose to ride a mountain bike or a road bike.  This is completely up to you.
3. Course Options;
Road Bike-Kings Mountain-Tunitas-Lobitas Cut off-Verde-Purrissima Creek Road.
Mountain Bike-Kings Mountain-Skyline-Purissima Creek Trail or Wetmore Gulch Trail or Harking Trail.  All three take you to the same exact exit point in Higgins Purrisima Road.
4. Tranisition 1-Bike to Run is at Burleigh Murray Ranch State Park parking lot on Higgins Purrisima Road.  Mike Osmond will be waiting there with your run shoes that you have put in the back of his truck before you left on the bike.
5. Run-The run is to the ocean and back.  You must touch the Pacific for the run to be official.  There is not a specified route.  Just get there any way you want.  Canâ?Tt miss it; keep heading west until you come to a big body of water.
6. Bike-After the run get back on your bike and retrace you route or forge a new one back to Burgess Pool.  Your choice.
7. Swim-Well this may be the only triathlon all year where you get to experience the swim last.  The distance is 2000 yards total.  After every 500 yards you need to exit the pool and complete 10 push-ups before re-entering and continuing.  Be warned that about 30% of the participants have experience leg cramps in previous years so be certain to have fluids handy in case you are the 1 in 3 cramp-athletes.
8. Complete it and be one of the Fearsome.
