Replenish
I always look forward to the last two weeks of every year for several reasons.
First, I like the fact that our daily routines are altered by the holidays and all the festivities. We all get the opportunity to step off the "treadmill of life" and relax, replenish and rejuvenate. I think everybody reading this really needs more restful time but somehow does not get enough due to the environment we live in and our own hard-driving behavior.
I also enjoy this time because there is a sense of idleness where most
people just slow down and take the time to recognize others and how they
enrich our lives. The sharing of thoughts and gifts is indeed magical in
the truest sense.
Before I go "underground" for a week, I would like to share some information about next year for those who are in the planning stages of 2011. I always like to begin the New Year with exciting new challenges because it gives us something to look forward to and it also gives us the opportunities to create unique memories.
I want to thank everyone for a wonderful year and for the generous year end gift, much too kind for my comfort.
All the best in 2011.
Contract
Thanks in part to our incredible staff members at Team Sheeper/Menlo Swim and Sport and to all of our fantastic Menlo Masters swimmers, and Team Sheeper triathletes who supported us so intensely during the open bidding process for the operation of Burgess Pool. The City of Menlo Park has chosen Team Sheeper as the company they will be working with to negotiate terms for another 5-10 year facility agreement. Both parties are motivated to come to agreement on the terms so operations can continue to flow as usual. The following is a communication from The City:
http://service.govdelivery.com/docs/CAMENLO/CAMENLO_58/CAMENLO_58_20101215_010000_en.pdf
The process is not yet completed, but we are one step closer. Next steps are:
1. Contract terms negotiated.
2. City Council approval (Projected February 1)
Thank you for your continued support and positive feedback on our programs as we travel through this process.
Jake Havenar
Jake has devoted a great deal of time and energy to our team in the past two years. He has brought his progressive and aggressive brand of strength training to our team and has shown his nurturing and compassionate side as he has mentored many new athletes onto our team through our level one program.
Jake has made the decision to focus his extra time and energy on becoming a professor at the University level which has always been his true passion. Hence, Jake will no longer be spending his time with the team in 2011.
We all wish Jake the best as he strives for a teaching positions at Arizona State University. And, we thank him for all of his contributions.
2011 Goals
Improvements for 2011-
1. Improve our coaching services
a. Offer coaching/guidance for 3 ability levels on Saturday rides
b. Offer more information dissemination through clinics and seminars
2. Improve our communication to members to make sure we are meeting the needs and expectations of our team members.
3. Improve on our team presence at local races. This is where we can demonstrate our cohesiveness and our shared enjoyment for the sport and measure our personal progress.
Free Boot Camp
I realize that every triathlete has ample training opportunities because of our ability to exercise in three different sports. But, if you find value and have the time to invest in a strength training program, we now have an offering to meet that requirement.
We have started a Boot Camp program. Boot Camp is basically a 50 minutes exercise program that incorporates strength training, stretching, balance, coordination, cardio vascular and injury prevention all rolled up into one.
We have invested in quality instructors who posses a great deal of knowledge, experience and energy to deliver a great experience for your precious time. Please assist us in building this program with your class presence and with constructive input as we strive to perfect our Boot Camp.
I am offering the Boot Camp FREE to all triathletes for the remainder of December and for all of January. If you like the program and it fits into your schedule and you choose to continue then there will be a small add-on monthly cost. ($35/month or $25/month with quarterly commitment)
We offer Boot Camp Monday-Friday 6am-10am (4 sessions) and one on Saturday 7:30-8:30am. Stop in and give it your best.
In order to take advantage of this offer, you must sign up via this registration link:

We will, however, be doing a check to make sure that all of our members have registered. Please take care of this as soon as possible so as to not put our team in jeopardy!
