My Races

As a reminder, after registering for your races, go to "my races" on the Team Sheeper website and enter your racing schedule so others on our team, including me, can see who is going to what races.  This allows me to do
some planning for the training sessions and allows for making arrangements at the event itself.  You need your password to get into the "my races" section.

Hani

Our Saturday morning cycling coach Hani Juha has a passion for adventure racing.  True adventure racing.  You know, stay up all night and hike, bike, crawl and creep through canyons and jungles among other things.  He races for a professional team called "Racing with Giants."  They have recently competed in a weeklong race across Baja where their team placed 5th overall.

Check out the race and information at:

Elad in the Desert

Elad  Benjamin is not one to idle along.  After conquering Ironman Couer d'Alene with the team last summer, he was on the lookout for another adventure to channel his enthusiasm.  What he decided on was more extreme then most of us would ever consider.  He decided on the Marathon De Sables, which is a 7 day running race through the Sahara Desert.  Yes, that is what I said, Sahara Desert.  All he had to do is run all day and carry all his food and gear for a week.

Relive the desert adventure with Elad by reading his blog, benjamin.co.il/blog/ and then we will welcome him back to the team with a new found respect for his athletic feats.

Congratulations you Wildman.

Oceanside 70.3 Results

A typical beautiful southern California day greeted all competitors at the Ford Ironman 70.3 in Oceanside this past Saturday.  The course was spectacular and the competition fierce for an early season race.  Our athletes were stellar and the results are as follows. A special congratulation to Jeff Piland who qualified to compete at the Elite World Championships in France this summer off his breakthrough performance in Oceanside.  And congratulations to Mimi Winsberg and Joan Ellison for qualifying for 70.3 Worlds.

Wine Tour

Our third annual Wine Country Tour is set for Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28 home based out of Sebastopol, California.

We are doing things a little differently this year. We are no longer booking the lodging.  Lodging is left completely up to the rider.

The issue is that Sebastopol is a small town and our ride is on a holiday weekend.  We have no financial commitment to the towns hotels so rooms are on a first come, first served basis and they will undoubtedly sell out.  If you plan on riding in the tour, book your room.

Information about the tour can be found at:

Triathlon 101 vs. Baja 70.3

There is a new long distance race series in the triathlon world.  The race series is called Triathlon oneOone.  101 stands for 101 miles raced in the event.  This is the distance between half ironman and ironman,  or 2 mile swim, 80 miles bike and 19 mile run.

There is a 101 race scheduled in Clear Lake, California on June 10, 2007.  This is the same day as Baja 70.3 that was put on the team schedule for this summer.

I am looking for feedback.

Is there an interest for Triathlon 101?  Is there an interest for Baja?  Is there any interest in going long?

Let me know your thoughts by responding to this email so I can schedule some training towards the race that garners the most interest.
