June 11, 2008

In this edition:

Sierra High Altitude Training Camp - August 1-3, 2008

Base Camp: Huntington Lake, 7000 ft. elevation, Lakeshore Resort

Amenities:  Cabins or Camping, General Store, Restaurant

Views
:  Spectacular with many vistas

Water
: Spectacular and clean

Air:  The little that is there is very clean and filled with the smell of pine trees.

Roads: Rustic and remote spiced with Mountain Passes

Climbing: Of course, you had to ask?

Sites we will visit: Mono Hot Springs

Meals:  We provide all the food, think BBQ's and watermelon.

Reasons
:  Training anchor/focus/destination for the second half of the season

Feel:  Old fashioned summer camp infused with aerobic activity in a multisport playground, minus the camp counselors.

Saturday Workout:  Simulation of 24 hours of Triathlon, only much shorter. Will the camp be challenging:  It will be manageable and controllable with many opportunities to decrease or increase volume.

Running
: There will be some running, but also some hiking and trekking due to the high altitude and rugged trail conditions.

Families: They are welcomed and encouraged.  This place is very cool.  I am going with or without the team.  We need a minimum of 20 participants to make it a viable camp.

Deadlines: You have until June 30 to reserve a cabin that they have blocked for us.  After that they will release the cabins to the general public.  You could always sleep in your car behind the saloon.  Speaking of saloon, there is a live band performing there on Saturday night, so it may get a bit loud.

More info:  Is on the website and training specifics will follow.
